Curtis Ray Cox, 62, of Mineral Wells, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at his home.
Service is 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home. Burial will be at
Holders Chapel in Cool, Texas. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home.
Curtis was born on Oahu Island, Honolulu, Hawaii, on May 9, 1950. At an early age his family moved to Louisville, Ky., where he stayed and lived until 1993 before moving to Mineral Wells. He worked most of his life as a carpenter and painter. His greatest joy in life was working and building things and helping others and his family. He was a very loving man who loved to spend all of his
free time with his family or working out in his shop. He enjoyed taking anything old and making it new again. He had the biggest passion for life and all things outdoors and was a very avid hunter throughout his life.
Curtis could always be found at home doing chores out in the yard or in his shop working on a project. He was the rock foundation to his family. He would tell his grandkids he never feared dying, saying you can’t prepare for it or wait around for it to arrive, all you can do is make sure to live the best life possible. He would always finish with, “If I went tomorrow, I am ready.”
He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Curtis is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Patsy; sons and daughters-in-law, Donnie and Ashley Cox, David and Ashley Cox, of Louisville, Ky.; daughters and sons-in-law; Beverly and Chris Hopkins, of Mineral Wells, Kimberly and Johnny Mendoza, of Marysville, Wash., Laura and Chris Wedding, and Stacie and Bobby Mesmer, of Louisville, Ky.; brother, Harland “Buddy” Cox; sisters, Sissy Perkins and Connie Breeden; stepmother, Sophie Cox, of Louisville, Ky.; 19 grandchildren, J.W.
