James “Jim” Louis Towles

Jim Towles, 56, died Sept. 23, 2012, after a short illness with cancer. He resided the last six months at Mineral Wells Nursing & Rehab Center.

Memorial service is 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Mineral Wells Church of God with Terry Mitchell and Pastor Tomlin officiating. Jim’s selfless desire was to help others by donating his body to the Cancer Research of UT Medical School in Dallas.

Jim was born May 9, 1956, in Indio, Calif., and was raised a true Texan since toddler age. He was a longtime resident of the Weatherford area, working as a brick layer and laborer until his cancer battle when he moved to Mineral Wells Nursing & Rehab Center. He truly enjoyed the Christian fellowship at the Mineral Wells Church of God. Jim  loved gardening and caring for birds of nature where he created a garden spot, which is in his memory today. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to MWN&R Center to further his vegetable and flower garden and bird sanctuary there.

He is survived by his parents, Juanita and Harold Towles, of Seymour, Texas; daughter, Laci Carter and husband, Scott, of Weatherford, along with two grandchildren; stepdaughters, which Jim raised as his own, Diane Cupp and Chrystal Stone, of Ohio, with four more grandchildren;  siblings, Pam Saul and husband, Todd, of Weatherford, Melody Glover and husband, Geary, of Mineral Wells, Charlotte Fleming and husband, Rick, of Peaster, Gerald Towles wife, Donna, of Weatherford, and Randy Towles, of Seymour, Texas; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would love to thank Solaris Hospice & MWN&R Center for the love, prayers and support given to Jim and the family during the last few months of his life. We all know that Jim is at his peaceful heavenly home and we are truly grateful for the love and joy he imprinted on each of our hearts forever.
