Wayne Starrett, 72, died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at his home surrounded by family.
Memorial service is 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at Fairview Baptist Church, 1062 Fairview Road, Mineral Wells. Rev. John Tunnell will officiate.
Wayne Starrett was born March 11, 1939, in Halls, Tenn., son of the late Leonard E. and Virginia Dare Williams Starrett. Wayne moved to Mineral Wells in 1985 from San Antonio and married the former Carolyn Bixler on July 20, 1987, in Mineral Wells. He always had everybody laughing and became instant friends with everyone he encountered. Wayne was a past member of the Humane Society and played Santa Claus at Walmart for many Christmases. He and Carolyn were faithful members of Fairview Baptist Church.
Survivors inclue his wife of 24 years, Carolyn Starrett, of Mineral Wells; son, Troy Starrett, of Utah; daughters, Carolyn Stovall-Lee and husband, Ronnie, of Mineral Wells; Starla Stovall-Abbott and husband, Donnie, of Kaufman, Texas, and Lonna Stovall-Ramsey and husband, Douglas, of Mineral Wells; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Billy Starrett and wife, Pattye, of Tiptonville, Tenn.; sisters, Faye Burnett and husband, Lynn, of Friendship, Tenn., and Joann Harper, of Olive Branch, Miss.; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of loving family and friends.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents.
