Naomi Ruth Harris

Naomi Ruth Harris, 94, of Mineral Wells, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013, in a Mineral Wells nursing home. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Church of the Nazarene with burial in the Woodland Park Cemetery. Visitation was 6-8 p.m.

Monday at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home. Rev. Jane Hughes officiated, assisted by Rev. Gary Word.

Pallbearers were Mike Alvarez Jr., David Harris, Wayne Spurlin, Allen Johnson, Charles Stutzman and Rodney Franklin.

Ruth was born April 10, 1918, in Duncan, OK, the daughter of Luther and Bertha Rainey Gray. She married Odell Harris, October 29, 1939, in Anadarko, OK, and moved to Mineral Wells in the early 1980’s. She and her husband served in Christian ministry in the Nazarene Church for 46 years. Her husband preceded her in death Aug. 16, 1992.

She loved to work with children in Sunday School, worked with crafts and did sewing and quilting.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law Jerry Odell and Ramona Harris of Clyde, Coy Luther and Lynn Harris of Mineral Wells; grandchildren David Harris of Austin, Joy and husband Wayne Spurlin of Mineral Wells and Jody Harris of Weatherford; sister Virginia Gray of Tulsa, OK; several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, James Gray, and a sister, Lois Walters.
