Melvena Ruth Pennington, 90, died Oct. 11, 2012, at her home in Palo Pinto.
Service is 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, at Palo Pinto United Methodist Church with Rev. Barry Holmes officiating. Burial will follow in Palo Pinto Cemetery. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
She was born Jan. 7, 1922, in Ponder, Texas, the daughter of Robert Ross and Allie Eastwood Moon. She married John Pennington on Aug. 22, 1946, in Fort Worth. She was a member of the Palo Pinto United Methodist Church. She was president of UMW at church and taught Sunday school.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Holmes; son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Nita Pennington; grandchildren and spouses, Melinda Holmes, Sheila and Bob Unwin, Matt and Cindy Pennington and Mark and Charlotte Pennington; great grandchildren, John Unwin, Jonna, Trent, Haley and Lane Pennington; sisters and brother-in-law, JoAnn and Grady Stanley, Virginia Lois Gann and Jean Williams; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 6, 1994.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Palo Pinto United Methodist Church in her memory.
