Santo’s Zane Mauney and Keith Chalker earned top District 11-A, Division I awards and five other Wildcats and two Perrin Pirates also earned all-district honors in a vote of league coaches.
Mauney, a senior, was selected as the district’s Defensive Most Valuable Player, while Chalker, a sophomore, was voted as 11-A’s top sixth man.
Santo’s Cooper Barling and Tim Long, along with Perrin’s Forest Francis, earned all-district, first-team honors.
Earning second-team honors from Santo were seniors Parker Conaway and Christopher Hoover and junior Zarmorris Cannon, with Perrin senior Josiah Cansler also making the all-district second team.
Earning all-district, all-academic honors from Santo were Hoover, Long, Shane Scott, Corey Steiner, Mauney, Barling and Colton Edwards.

With Mineral Wells High School head cross country/track coach Jackie Harvey instructing recent Rams and Lady Rams track greats Lorenzo Johnson, Adrian Colbert and Maricela Castillo, and recently, current MWHS trackster DaShawn Hicks, one could say that incredible talent was the reason these four athletes qualified at the state level, with Johnson and Colbert earning state championships.
