Mineral Wells pitcher Braxton Allen struck out 10 batters and allowed just three hits to lead the Rams to a 9-1 victory over Eastland Tuesday night at Pratt Field.
Allen, a freshman, gave up only one walk in six innings.
Brandon Martinez came on in the seventh to finish the game, allowing one hit with a strikeout.
“Braxton pitched really well after settling down in the second inning,” Rams head coach Bret Barrick said. “Brandon has done a great job in relief the last two outings.
“We played good defense and hit the ball well. We also did a good job on the bases and manufactured some runs by getting into scoring position by running the bases well.
“Overall, a good night and I am very pleased with our effort and attitude of trying to get better every game.
“We had a lot of guys playing different positions, and they are doing a great job settling in and making plays.”
At the plate, Martinez recorded a double and Paden Patino swatted a triple.
The Rams scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 3-1 lead.
MWHS added a run in the third, two in the fourth and closed the scoring with three runs in the sixth.
The Rams (4-2) will host a rotation tournament beginning today.
MWHS will play at 11 a.m. at Pratt Field against Western Hills and at a 4 p.m. against Decatur.
