LIPAN – The state-ranked No. 6 Strawn Lady Hounds defeated No. 2 Lipan, 61-51, here Friday night in a District 11-A (Division II) contest.
Jayde Price scored 30 points to lead Strawn. Also scoring were Jacqueline Berumen with 17 points, Cori Pollock with nine and Shelly Abbott with five.
Strawn led 24-6 after the first quarter and 43-16 at the half. However, Lipan went on a 23-7 run in the third period to cut the Lady Hounds’ lead to 50-39 as the game moved to the fourth quarter.
“WE played an outstanding first half,” Lady hounds head coach Joe Crabb said. “We hit eight three-pointers in the first half and played strong defense.
“But the wheels came off in the second half. Thankfully, we had a big enough lead and were able to hold on.”
