No. 5 Ladycats thump Goldthwaite

Mineral Wells Index

GOLDTHWAITE – State-ranked No. 5 Santo outscored Goldthwaite 24-13 in the second half as the Ladycats defeated the Lady Eagles 45-30 on Dec. 21.

Alyssa McKennon led the Ladycats (19-2) with 10 points, with Sarah Van Remmen and Payton Billue each adding nine.

Also scoring for Santo were Courtney Flanagan with eight points, Breeana Raffaele with seven, and Taylor Nemeth with two.

Graford downs Olney in battle of ranked teams

GRAFORD – Jose Paz Chacheiro scored a game-high 31 points to lead the Class A state-ranked No. 12 (Division II) Graford Jackrabbits to a 55-49 comeback victory over Class A, Division I No. 5 Olney on Dec.21.

Chacheiro also led Graford (12-3) in rebounds with eight, with Quinten Tabor an Dylan Hart each grabbing four boards.

Quinton Reed led Graford in steals with four and had a team-leading four assists.

Hart and Tanner Hargrove each added six points.

Olney led 10-6 after the first quarter and 25-21 at the half. The Cubs built a 43-38 lead after three periods, but Graford went on a 17-6 run in the fourth quarter to come back and take the win.
