Aguilar, Mallory advance to state powerlifting meet

STAFF REPORTS

DECATUR – Mineral Wells lifters Matt Aguilar and Travis Mallory advanced to the state meet in Abilene after qualifying finishes Saturday here at the regional powerlifting meet.

Aguilar finished first in the 242-pound weight class with a total of 1,500 pounds, while Mallory finished second in the 181-pound weight class, and had the top dead lift in his weight class.

Roger Garcia also competed at the regional meet.

The state meet will be March 23 in Abilene.

The girls’ meet was at Wylie High School on Feb. 23. Dee Dee King was the top finisher for the Lady Rams, placing fourth, with Wezzy King finishing fifth.

Ashley Martinez placed ninth, and Joselyn Perez also competed at the regional meet.
