Megan Powell scored 17 points and Niya Benavides added 14 to lead the Mineral Wells Lady Rams to a 50-44 comeback win over the Bridgeport Sissies Tuesday night in a District 7-3A game at the MWHS gym.
The Lady Rams trailed 14-3 in the first quarter and by seven points at the break before going on a 17-7 run in the third period to take control of the game.
The Rams held off a Bridgeport Bulls' comeback attempt as a BHS three-pointer at the buzzer hit the back of the rim and bounced off as MWHS held on to a 38-35 win.
Matt Tincher led the Rams (5-1) with 11 points, with Hunter Fincher adding 11.
In boys' sub-varsity action, the Rams junior varsity defeated the Bulls, 55-50, and the freshman boys rolled to a 53-34 win.
in girls' sub-varsity play, the Lady Rams JV defeated the Sissies, 30-19, and the freshman ladies downed Bridgeport, 38-23.
