Santo upends Strawn in OT

Two weeks ago, the Santo Lady 'Cats fell to the Strawn Lady Greyhounds in the third-place game at the Hico Invitational Tournament.

On Saturday afternoon, the Lady 'Cats turned the tables.

Santo, keyed by eight points from Shanna Stevens, outscored Strawn by a 4-2 margin in overtime and claimed a tough 38-36 victory in the third-place game at the Santo Invitational.

With the win Santo improved to 5-7 for the season. Strawn slipped to 7-5.

Strawn set the tempo early in the game. The Lady Greyhounds rode the inside game of Jamie Heflin and Zakia Winegeart to a 13-6 lead in the first.

Santo rallied to within 19-16 at the half with a 10-6 run in the second.

The Lady 'Cats hit stride in the fourth quarter. Santo went on a 7-2 run in the final eight minutes and forced the game into overtime with the score knotted at 34-34.

Santo moved into the third-place game following a 54-39 loss to Millsap on Friday. In that game, Stevens scored 10 points, while Tori Tackett and Sarah Van Remmen both added seven.
