Cora Jenkins scored 22 points and Shelbie Simonton added nine more Friday and helped carry the Mineral Wells Lady Rams to third place in the Northwest Invitational Basketball Tournament with a 56-25 rout of Alvarado.
The win helped Mineral Wells improve to 4-7. The team is idle until Dec. 11 when they host Haltom in the MWHS gymnasium.
Mineral Wells jumped on Alvarado early. The Lady Rams pounded out a 12-4 run in the first eight minutes and then raced to a commanding 27-9 halftime lead.
The Lady Rams, who are scheduled to begin District 6-4A play on Dec. 15 against Aledo, sealed the victory with an impressive 17-7 run in the fourth quarter.
Braylee Flaska added seven for Mineral Wells.
