<h3>'Hounds look to add to postseason success</h3>
STRAWN – Since 2003, Strawn head coach Dwaine Lee has seen his share of victories in the postseason. In fact, that's about the only thing he has seen.
Heading into the Friday's Division I six-man state semifinal matchup with the Calvert Trojans, Lee has guided the Greyhounds into the postseason each of his seven years at the helm, and has posted an amazing .800 winning percentage.
"I think we have one of the best head coaches in the state," said Strawn school board member Terry Thornton. "I'll guarantee you no one will outcoach him, or his assistants. As a group, we probably have the best staff anywhere."
The numbers prove Thornton right. Since Lee took over the SHS program in 2003, Strawn has won 16 of its 20 playoff games and twice – in 2003 and 2008 – won the state six-man championship.
Those numbers could jump again Friday. Strawn, 12-1 overall, heads into the semifinal game as the favorite over Calvert. A win Friday would send Lee and the 'Hounds to their third berth in the state finals in seven seasons.
After stops in Grandfalls-Royalty and Silverton, Lee burst onto the scene in 2003. That season, he guided Strawn to a 14-1 record and win over Fort Davis in the state finals.
The following season, Strawn went 2-1 in the postseason before falling to Richland Springs.
The Hounds endured a slump in 2005-2007 – if reaching the area playoffs can be considered a slump. Strawn lost in the second round in each of those three seasons.
Last season, Lee had Strawn hitting on all cylinders. The 'Hounds went 14-1 – 5-0 in the playoffs – and won their second title.
For his career, Lee has 131 wins, ranking him 18th all-time in six-man history.
