The Mineral Wells High School Lady Rams proved home really is a friendly place Monday night when they grabbed a wild 45-44 overtime win over the Midlothian Lady Panthers.
The win, the Lady Rams' second victory in their past four outings, enabled Mineral Wells to improve to 2-5 for the year. Midlothian fell to 1-1.
The game didn't start out well for Mineral Wells. Midlothian took advantage of several turnovers in the first quarter and sprinted to a 10-4 advantage.
Things only got worse for the Lady Rams from there. The Lady Panthers posted an 11-8 run in the second period and took a 21-12 lead into the half.
Mineral Wells managed to get its offense clicking in the third. Powered by the play of Cora Jenkins, Shelby Simonton and Megan Hart, the MWHS girls pulled to within two, at 29-27, with a 15-8 run in the third.
After rallying to tie the game at 33-33 at the end of regulation, the Lady Rams salted away the win with a 12-point OT frame.
Jenkins finished the game with a team-high 13 points. Simonton added 10.
