Crowley deals Rams first loss

The Crowley Wildcats scored 19 points in the final eight minutes Tuesday evening and rallied to claim a tough 48-41 win over the Mineral Wells Rams in front of a large crowd in the MWHS gym.

The Rams, who had opened the season with wins in each of their first two outings, held a 33-29 lead heading into the final eight minutes of the contest.

Mineral Wells, which picked up double-digit performances from Zack Nicklas and Hunter Fincher, struggled to get its offense untracked early against the Wildcats. The Rams managed just seven points in the opening eight minutes of the game.

Crowley, now 2-0, scored 11 in the first and took a slim 11-7 lead into the second.

Mineral Wells found its groove in the second. The Rams, keyed by shots from Nicklas and Flaska, posted a 14-8 run in the frame and took a 21-19 lead at the half.

The Rams, who travel to Graham on Dec. 1, padded their lead a bit in the third with a 12-10 spree.

Nicklas led all MWHS scorers in the game with 17 points. Flaska added 12.
