A year ago, the Perrin-Whitt High School Pirates were the new kids on the block when playoff time rolled around. So, naturally, they were just happy to take in the show after reaching the playoffs for the first time in more than two decades.
Despite heavy losses to graduation a year ago, the Pirates are expecting better things this year. A lot better.
Perrin-Whitt will open its postseason quest tonight when they face Muenster in an area showdown at Porcupine Stadium in Springtown. The game will get under way at 7:30 p.m.
The Pirates, 5-4 overall and the third-place team in District 15-A, will head into the contest sporting one of the top rushing attacks in the area. Led by junior Bryce Cameron, Perrin-Whitt has averaged about 200 yards on the ground each week.
Cameron has rushed for more than 1,350 yards this fall.
Muenster, 8-3, rolls into the contest fresh off a 46-28 win over Wolfe City in the bi-district round.
