HAMILTON - Sydney Shelstead scored 18 points and pulled down 18 rebounds to lead the Mineral Wells Lady Rams to a 45-41 victory over Liberty Hill here Friday night in a Class 3A, Region I area championship game.
The win advances the Lady Rams (24-9) to the regional quarterfinals against Kennedale. The game is tentatively set for Tuesday night at Weatherford. Check this site for final information.
The Mineral Wells Rams will assume the third seed in District 6-3A after falling to Springtown, 70-53, Friday night in Weatherford in a second-place tiebreaker game.
The Rams will play Burkburnett in the bi-distirict playoffs on either Monday or Tuesday. Check this site for final information.
Also in girls' basketball Friday night, the Santo Ladycats advanced to the regional quarterfinals after defeating Windthorst. The Ladycats will face Goldthwaite Tuesday night in Dublin, with tip time TBA.
And in girls' soccer, the Mineral Wells Lady Rams fell 3-0 to Boswell.
