SPRINGTOWN – Needing three straight defensive stops to secure the win, the Mineral Wells Lady Rams junior varsity held off Springtown, 40-38, here Tuesday night in a District 6-3A contest.
The win keeps the Lady Rams undefeated in league play with a 4-0 mark.
Kaleigh Aaron led the Lady Rams with 11 points, with Tabi Santibanez, Mason Malone and Scarlett Eaton each adding six.
Also scoring were Carson Couger and Addi Singleton, each with four points, Bre Hinojos with two and Grace Baeza with one.
Springtown led 13-11 after the opening period, but the Lady Rams outscored the Lady Porcupines 15-7 in the second quarter to take a 26-20 lead at the half.
Each team scored six points in the third period as MWHS took a 32-26 lead into the fourth quarter.
SHS 49, Rams JV 45
Springtown outlasted the Mineral Wells Rams junior varsity, 49-45, Tuesday night in a District 6-3A contest.
The Rams, 1-1 in district play, were plagued at the free throw line as the team connected on just nine of 18 charity shots.
Mark Glover and Coy Barrick each scored 10 points to lead the Rams.
Also scoring were Dalton Mitchell with nine points, Braxton Allen with seven, Conner Bradshaw and Devon Edmond, each with four, and Dexter Cross with one.
Springtown led 11-9 after the first quarter and 23-22 at the half. The Porcupines outscored the Rams 15-10 in the third period to take a 38-32 lead into the fourth quarter.
Lady Rams frosh win, 43-32
Brooke Hale scored 10 points and Katie Rivera added nine to lead the Mineral Wells Lady Rams to a 43-32 win over Springtown Tuesday in a District 6-3A game.
The win raises the Lady Rams’ district mark to 3-0.
Also scoring were Maddie Pappas with eight points, Kenzie Huseman with seven, Paige Goleman with four, Katlin Norton with three and Elyssa Ogletree with two.
Rams freshmen fall
Springtown came back from an early deficit to defeat the Mineral Wells Rams freshman team, 52-43, in a District 6-3A contest on Tuesday.
The Rams, 1-1 in district play, were led by Broderick Johnson and Tristan Seargeant, who each scored 10 points.
Also scoring were Connor Jacobson with eight points, Alec Ortiz and Nigel Benavides, each with seven, and Lamont Wilson with one.
The Rams led 15-10 after the first quarter, but Springtown went on a 12-4 run in the second period to lead 22-19 at the half. Springtown outscored the Rams 19-15 in the third period to take a 41-34 lead into the fourth quarter.
