Thirteen Gordon Longhorns earned 17 spots on the All-District 10, Division I six man team in a vote of league coaches.
The Longhorns, who reached the Division I state semifinals, earned two superlative awards and had seven players earn 10 spots on the all-district, first team.
Senior quarterback Emory Allen was voted as the district’s Offensive Player of the year, while junior linebacker Jonathan Jennings was named Defensive Player of the Year.
Allen was also chosen as a first-team safety, while Jennings also earned second-team honors at fullback.
Longhorns earning first-team honors included Jake Wigington (tight end, defensive line), Michael Cherry (running back, cornerback), Stephen Plowman (center), Tyler Pool (special teams), and Alex Montelongo (defensive line).
The 13 players on the All-District 10 team reflect what was a very successful season for Gordon in 2012.
In addition to an undefeated district record, the ‘Horns defeated Zephyr, Savoy and Santa Anna in the playoffs before falling to Abbott in the state semifinals.
In other top district awards, Justin Delbosque of Lingleville was selected Coach of the Year, and Evant freshman Homero Diaz was voted Newcomer of the Year.
