Mineral Wells Rams head coach Aaron Pappas said he felt uneasy about the prospects of his team playing Lake Worth with so much on the line.
The Bullfrogs were coming off a win over Castleberry where it scored 102 points, and in the last three meetings between the Rams and Bullfrogs in the past two seasons have been physical, emotional and unorthodox.
But Pappas need not have worried, even when the Rams fell behind by by five points in the second quarter.
Paced by a strong performance on the boards by senior forward Mikevin Singletary, the scoring and rebounding from junior forward Matt “Moose” Tincher and a stingy MWHS defense, the Rams held serve at home and defeated scrappy Lake Worth, 64-52, which sets up a District 7-3A “championship game” Friday at Decatur.
