SANTO – Roger Garcia was the top Mineral Wells Rams lifter and Valerie Hernandez topped the Lady Rams Saturday at the Santo powerlifting meet.
Garcia placed second in the 123-pound weight class, while Hernandez placed fourth in the same weight class at the girls’ meet.
Other Rams include Travis Mallory (third, 181-lb.), Brian San Miguel (seventh, 148-lb.), Ethan San Miguel (eighth, 242-lb.), Aaron Hite (10th, 242-lb.), Ryan Davila (11th, 165-lb.)Ricardo Martinez (12th, 242-lb.), Jared Stone (19th, 165-lb.) and Victor Contreras (20th, 148-lb.).
Other Lady Rams include Wezzy King (third, 220-lb.), Ashley Martinez (fifth, 220-lb.), Joselyn Perez (sixth, 165-lb.) and Kelly Hernandez (15th, 148-lb.)

Mineral Wells Track Club preparing for summer meets
With Mineral Wells High School head cross country/track coach Jackie Harvey instructing recent Rams and Lady Rams track greats Lorenzo Johnson, Adrian Colbert and Maricela Castillo, and recently, current MWHS trackster DaShawn Hicks, one could say that incredible talent was the reason these four athletes qualified at the state level, with Johnson and Colbert earning state championships.
