Lady Rams close out Jacksboro in three

Mineral Wells senior hitters Niya Benavides, Shay Douglas and Sydney Shelstead combined for 28 kills to lead the Lady Rams to a 25-14, 25-20, 25-21 victory over Jacksboro Tuesday night in non-district volleyball action at the MWHS gym.

The win raises the Lady Rams’ record to 11-9.

Benavides led the Lady Rams with 11 kills, with Douglas finishing with nine and Shelstead with eight. Shelstead recorded all eight of her stoppers in the final two games.

“This was a much better showing than Friday night (in a loss at Godley),” Lady  Rams head coach Taylor Eggleston said. “I played a lot of girls, so this win was a team effort.”
