LAKE WORTH – Remaining undefeated in District 6-3A play, the Mineral Wells Lady Rams junior varsity team defeated Lake Worth, 52-12, on Friday to run their league mark to a sparkling 7-0.
Paced by 10 points from Tabi Santibanez and six points from Mason Malone, the Lady Rams scored 25 points in the first quarter to take a 19-point lead. MWHS went on a 14-1 run in the second period to take a 39-7 lead at the half which put the game away.
Santibanez and Mason Malone each finished with 14 points to lead the Lady Rams.
Also scoring were Carson Couger with eight points, Addi Singleton and Kera Harrison, each with six, and Grace Baeza and Mariah Shuffield, each with two.
Rams JV falls
Lake Worth overcame a 10-point deficit and held back a late Mineral Wells junior varsity charge to defeated the Rams, 52-51.
The loss drops the Rams to 2-3 in district play.
Coy Barrick led the Rams with 14 points, with Mark Glover adding 13.
Also scoring were Braxton Allen with seven points, Tanner Newsom and Dalton Mitchell, each with six, Devon Edmond with five and Dexter Cross with three.
The Rams led 13-3 after the opening period and 33-25 at the half. Lake Worth outscored the Rams 19-14 in the third period to cut the MWHS advantage to 47-44 as the game moved to the fourth quarter.
Lady Rams frosh roll
Maddie Pappas scored 13 points, and Katie Rivera and Kenzie Huseman each added eight to lead the Mineral Wells Lady Rams freshman team to a 40-6 victory over Lake Worth.
The win raises the Lady Rams’ district mark to 5-1.
Also scoring were Elyssa Ogletree with four points, Brooke Hale with three, and Katlin Norton and Brailey Garcia, each with two.
The Lady Rams jumped out to a 10-0 lead after the first quarter and built a 26-2 cushion at the break.
MWHS scored four points in the third period while shutting out Lake Worth to take a 36-2 lead into the fourth quarter.
Rams frosh win
Jumping out to a 14-1 lead after the first quarter, the Mineral Wells Rams freshman team defeated Lake Worth, 39-26, to raise its 6-3A record to 4-1.
Marvin Johnson led the Rams with 12 points, with Alec Ortiz and Aaron Cedillo each adding five.
Also scoring were Branson Sanchez with four points, Keith Stafford with three, Lamont Wilson and Z Beard, each with two, and Matthew Lawhon with one.
The Rams led 18-6 at the half and built a 29-8 lead as the game entered the fourth quarter.
