GORMAN — The Gorman Panthers remained unbeaten with a 63-7 win over the Santo Wildcats on Friday at Panthers Field.

The win moved seventh-ranked Gorman to 3-0 in District 12-1A play while the loss left Santo at 0-2 in league play and 0-6 on the year.

Santo got on the scoreboard when Taylor Sweeney found the end zone on a 20-yard run.

Wildcats head football coach Randy Thornton said his team didn’t leave anything on the field.

“We played hard and did some things well. We had some misfires offensively,” Thornton said. “We played better on offense than we did on defense. I’m seeing things every week that give me hope.”

Luke Nichols led Santo with 87 yards on 18 carries while sophomore quarterback Roland Pope saw extensive playing time.

“Cody Gilbert and Bradley Thornton have done a good job of keeping the team going,” Thornton said. “I thought our little sophomore quarterback, Roland Pope, played a pretty decent game.”

Notes ... The Wildcats are set to return to play on Friday when Cross Plains visit’s Santo’s W.A. Lewis Field on homecoming night.
