STRAWN — If this had been a sixman football game instead of a girls basketball game, it would have been over at halftime via the 45-point rule.

Unfortunately for the players and fans at Moran High School, there’s no mercy rule in the Texas high school basketball rule book.

The 13th-ranked Strawn Lady Greyhounds stayed unbeaten in Class 1A Division II Girls District 17 basketball play on Friday with an 86-7 win over Moran.

Strawn took a 34-0 first-quarter lead and outscored Moran 52-7 in the final three quarters.

Kirsten Crabb led Strawn in scoring with a game-high 27 points and added nine steals, seven assists and seven rebounds.

Strawn post Margie Copeland had 12 points, six rebounds, four steals and two assists while Jamie Heflin posted a double-double that included 12 points, 10 rebounds, two steals and one blocked shot.

Strawn freshman Zakia Winegeart added 10 points, four rebounds, two steals, one assist and a blocked shot while Lacey Day had eight points, three assists, three steals and a rebound.
