MINERAL WELLS —
SANTO – Payton Billue scored a game-high 16 points to lead the state-ranked No. 6 Santo Ladycats to a 69-12 win over the Perrin Lady Pirates here Friday night in a District 11-A (Division I) contest.
The win raises the Ladycats’ district mark to 4-1, while the Lady Pirates drop to 3-3.
Three other Ladycats reached double figures including Breeana Raffaele and Courtney Flanagan, each with 12 points, and Sarah Van Remmen with 10.
Also scoring for Santo were Taylor Nemeth with nine points, Alyssa McKennon with eight and Jaci Trotter with two.
Santo (23-4) jumped out to a 17-1 lead after the first quarter and built a 29-5 cushion at the half. Santo went on a 19-2 run in the third period to take a 48-7 lead into the fourth quarter.
Santo will play Tuesday at Chico, while Perrin has an open date the same day. Perrin will continue district play at home on Friday against Chico.
No. 7 Strawn wears down Lingleville
LINGLEVILLE – Jayde Price recorded a double double with 16 points and 15 rebounds, and Jacqueline Berumen and Tearany Atkins each added 15 to lead the state-ranked No. 7 Strawn Lady Hounds to a 73-34 win over Lingleville here Friday night in a District 17-A (Division II) contest.
The win raises the Lady Hounds’ overall record to 24-6 and 6-1 in district play.
Also scoring for Strawn were Cori Pollock with nine points, Shelly Abbott with seven, Eva de Gregorio with five, Cidney Pollock with four and Serena Garcia with two. Abbott also registered a team-high 10 assists.
Strawn will host Huckabay on Tuesday.
Lady Rabbits cruise to win
GRAFORD – On Homecoming Night, Tyler Wimberly registered a double double with a game-high 24 points and 12 steals, and Erika Chemello added a season-high 20 points to lead the Graford Lady Rabbits to a 76-18 win over Paint Creek here Friday in a District 11-A (Division II) game.
The win raises the Lady Rabbits’ overall record to 16-10 and keeps the team undefeated in district play at 7-0.
“We hit five threes in the first quarter and that got our offense going,” Lady Rabbits head coach Jarod Westmoreland said. “I thought Erika had a great game with her scoring, but she also played great defense.”
Also scoring for the Lady Rabbits were Sydney Wimberly with 13 points, Morgan Hendershott with eight, Ali Brown with four Amanda Francis with three, and Ashley Hay and Katie Rochelle, each with two.
Sydney Wimberly led the Lady Rabbits on the glass with five rebounds and added five steals; Tyler Wimberly added four assists; Brown led the team with five blocks and added four rebounds; Chemello recorded three steals and two assists; Hendershott grabbed four rebounds; and Rochelle had three blocks and a pair of assists.
Graford will travel to Throckmorton on Tuesday.
