Trent Guinn threw three touchdown passes to lead the Mineral Wells Junior High Rams eighth-grade “A” team to a 31-6 win over Weatherford Tison Tuesday at Ram Stadium.
The win elevates the Rams to 3-4.
Christian Garcia, Angel Garcia, Johnny Morales and Cameron Weiss each scored a touchdown, with Levi Knowles adding three two-point conversions. John Garcia added an extra-point kick.
Defensively, Cameron Weiss and Lane Houston each recorded an interception, and coaches named Angel Garcia for its “Big Hit Award.”
Coaches also gave “big praise” for the offensive linemen Stefon Sandoval, Gaston Spangler, John Garcia, Matt Hoskins, Andy Garcia and Jerome Johnson.
Tison beats Rams’ 8th B team, 8-6
K’Yondric Cotton scored the eighth-grade “B” team Rams’ lone touchdown on a running play in an 8-6 loss to Tison.
The loss drops the Rams to 1-6.
Defensively, Jordan Carrol recovered a fumble, Cody Royer had a pair of pass deflections and a fumble recovery, and coaches gave Judas Bryson the “Big Hit Award.”
Rams 8th C shuts out Tison, 16-0
Oscar Ortiz and Mark Cotton each scored a touchdown to lead the Rams eight-grade “C” team to a 16-0 shutout over Tison.
The win rises the Rams’ mark to 5-2.
Cotton and Chris Tovar each scored on a two-point conversion runs.
Defensively, coaches gave the “Big Hit Award” to Tristan Brown.
“All three teams played extremely well,” Rams coach Robert Moreno said. “Especially our offensive linemen, and our secondary on defense.”
On Tuesday, the seventh grade will take on Granbury at Ram Stadium beginning at 5 p.m., and the eighth grade will travel to Granbury with games starting at 5 p.m.
