Rams hold slim lead in grid series with Iowa Park Hawks

The first time the Rams and Iowa Park met was in 1976, the year Mineral Wells dropped from Class 4A (top UIL classification) to Class 3A.

The previous year the Rams were in the district with Trinity, Wichita Falls High and L.D. Bell, among others.

The drop to Class 3A was no bargain as the Rams joined the 3A district that featured Iowa Park, Brownwood, Stephenville, Vernon, Weatherford, Burkburnett and Graham.

The Rams, coached by Ben Tyler, beat Iowa Park 13-6 in the two teams’ first-ever meeting.
