Driver airlifted from one-car crash just east of Palo Pinto county seat

By CHRIS AGEE

The only individual involved in a crash Friday evening was transported from the scene via air ambulance to a Fort Worth Hospital, authorities said Monday.

According to Department of Public Safety Sgt. Jeffrey Poole, troopers responded to the single-vehicle crash shortly after 7 p.m. Friday on U.S. Highway 180 West, just east of Palo Pinto.

Poole said the driver, Neal Eugene Anderson, 46, of Mineral Wells, was driving a red 2010 Ford Focus westbound on the highway when he apparently lost control of the vehicle.

Anderson's car ran off the roadway into a westbound bar ditch and crashed into roadside trees, Poole added.

According to Poole, Anderson was transported by air to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth with incapacitating injuries.

Reports show no citations were issued and Poole confirmed Anderson was wearing a safety belt at the time of the time of the crash.
