A Weatherford man died Saturday after crashing his motorcycle on the service road of Interstate 20 near Santo.

According to Department of Public Safety Trooper Gary Rozzell, Marvin Rodney Hood, 42, was traveling west on I-20, about 6.3 miles east of Santo, when he exited the interstate and struck a guardrail.

Hood was operating a 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle and was the only individual involved in the collision, he added.

Rozzell explained Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace Shawn Humphries pronounced Hood dead at the scene.

Authorities said the crash happened about 5:10 p.m., noting the cause of the crash was being investigated by DPS as of Monday.

Reports indicate Hood was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

His body was taken from the scene to Baum Carlock Bumgardner Funeral Home in Mineral Wells.
