Highway race ended in garage collision, arrest

A high-speed race between two vehicles Thursday ended with one vehicle wrecked and the driver arrested.

The crash happened about 8:50 p.m. just east of West City Park.

According to Mineral Wells police reports, Ryan Estevan Davila, 18, of Mineral Wells, was driving west in the 1100 block of West Hubbard Street, racing another vehicle at an unsafe speed.

Davila left the roadway which caused the 2005 Ford F150 he was driving to collide with the a detached garage, a fire hydrant and a street sign.

Investigators cited failure to control speed as a contributing factor.

Davila was uninjured following the crash, records state. He was reportedly arrested at the scene and charged with racing on a highway.
