Palo Pinto County farmers and ranchers are reminded the sign-up for the Supplemental Revenue Assistance Payment (SURE) program for the 2011 crop year began in late October and runs through June 7.
“Many farmers and ranchers in Palo Pinto County suffered losses because of the devastating drought in 2011,” said Greg Gilbert, Palo Pinto County Farm Bureau president. “Eligible producers are encouraged to visit the local Farm Service Agency office to learn more about the program.”
Gilbert said the SURE program provides financial assistance to farmers and ranchers who suffered crop losses from natural disasters occurring through Sept. 30, 2011. After that date, the SURE program was not continued. Crop losses after that date are ineligible for program coverage.
For more information and eligibility requirements, contact the local FSA office or www.fsa.usda.gov/sure.
