<font color="red">UPDATE:</font> Fleet-footed trooper runs down suspect
A man was apprehended after running on foot from a highway patrol trooper during a traffic stop Wednesday, according to DPS Sgt. Jason Dudley.
A westbound vehicle on the Interstate 20 frontage road was pulled over by Trooper Garry Allen for an expired inspection sticker around 8:30 a.m., according to Dudley.
The driver, Hector Corral, of Santo, reportedly pulled into a convenience store parking lot in the 87000 block of I-20 before taking off on foot, Dudley said.
Corral, an alleged illegal alien, was taken into custody after a chase of about 500 feet, according to Dudley, and arrested for evading arrest or detention, resisting arrest and on an Immigrations and Customs Enforcement hold.
Teen arrested in burglary
Police said they arrested a 17-year-old teen after he admitted to breaking into a neighbor’s house in the 300 block of County Club Parkway.
Reid Uriah Menefee was arrested for burglary of a habitation around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, according to police.
The resident returned home Sunday after being out of town four days to find fresh pry marks on the door frame and a frozen pizza missing, police said. The resident then looked around and realized 45 CDs and 4 DVDs were gone, as well, according to a police report.
The resident reportedly told police his neighbor was known to have broken into other houses in the neighborhood in the past, though police have no record of him being arrested for burglary.
When police approached the teen, he reportedly admitted to the burglary and the items, minus the pizza, were recovered.
Police said Menefee has been arrested for disorderly conduct and theft in the past.
Two arrested after police called to Christmas fight
Two were arrested after police responded to a call around 9 p.m. Friday in the 400 block of S.E. 26th Avenue reporting a possible fight in the street between intoxicated individuals.
Jonathan Wayne Radford, 21, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Friday for disorderly conduct and public intoxication.
A 16-year-old male was also arrested for disorderly conduct, minor in consumption of alcohol and possession of a controlled substance.
Police said they found two Vicodin pills when he was told to empty his pockets.
Man being arrested kicks out window at Crazy Water Hotel
Carl Dan Fairley Jr., 25, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Sunday after midnight for criminal trespass, criminal mischief and two counts of resisting arrest, police reported.
Fairley was arrested after police and management asked him to leave a retirement center in the 400 block of North Oak Avenue and he refused.
Police said he resisted arrest and kicked out a glass door window after he was in handcuffs.
He resisted again after being transported to the jail, according to police.
Travis Elementary vandalized
Obscenities and a threat were written in spray paint on Travis Elementary last week. The vandalism was discovered and reported to police around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
There was no damage estimate in the report.
Man taken to hospital
A man was transported to Palo Pinto General Hospital Saturday from a residence in the 300 block of N.W. 4th Street after his brother found him shaking in bed around 2 p.m. after taking five Soma pills.
Police said the pills were not prescribed to him.
Burglaries
• Three dollars in pennies, a flashlight valued at $15 and a toy motorcycle valued at $12 were reported stolen in a burglary of a residence Wednesday in the 300 block of S.E. 6th Avenue.
The window near the back door was reported smashed and the door unlocked sometime between 11 a.m and 8 p.m. Wednesday, according to a police report.
• Over a $100 was reported stolen from a cash register and a drawer at a business in the 900 block of East Hubbard Street, according to police. The burglary reportedly took place between 8 p.m. Dec. 22 and 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, according to police. A door was reportedly left unsecured.
Arrests
Mineral Wells police reported the following arrests:
• Santiago Guerra Ramirez Jr., 19, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Wednesday for assault causing bodily injury and assault with injury after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend during a fight and struck a bystander who tried to intervene.
• Gary Ross Nickols, 55, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Thursday on warrants for dog-at-large, unvaccinated animal, speeding, expired inspection and expired license plate.
• Daniel Guy Ewing, 47, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Thursday for assault of a family member.
• Karen Deidre Lewis, 47, of Weatherford, was arrested Saturday on warrants for speeding and speeding in a school zone.
• Lance Lee Lemley, 29, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Saturday on 11 traffic and alcohol-related warrants.
• George Luis Aguilar, 30, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Sunday for driving while license invalid.
• Mark Ray Taigan, 30, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Sunday for assault of a family member.
• A 16-year-old female was arrested Monday on a juvenile probation office directive to apprehend warrant for probation violation.
