Palo Pinto – Eighteen people were indicted by a Palo Pinto grand jury last week, including a man indicted for sexual assault and four teens for burglary of a convenience store at Possum Kingdom Lake.
Burglary indictments
Four Metroplex teens were indicted for burglary of a building for allegedly breaking into a convenience store near Possum Kingdom Lake in September.
Anthony Smith, of Fort Worth, Nicholas Davis, of Haltom City, Shelby Nichols, of Watauga, and Audrey Brown, of Garland, were arrested Sept. 27 in Haltom City.
According to an earlier Index story, the teens reportedly stole thousands of dollars worth of items, including beer, cigarettes, lottery tickets and other items, after breaking in a large front window of a store on Farm-to-Market Road 2353 during the night.
The same day the burglary was discovered, Haltom City police reportedly found the teens attempting to break into another building, Sheriff Ira Mercer told the Index. Cash and other stolen items were reportedly found on them.
Mercer told the Index at least one teen talked and told Palo Pinto County sheriff’s office investigators they were at Possum Kingdom Lake visiting a recently moved friend.
Man indicted for rape
Albert Melvin Piatt was indicted for allegedly sexually assaulting another adult on September 22. Piatt, 50, of Mineral Wells, was reportedly arrested Sept. 25 in the 200 block of Country Club Parkway on a Mineral Wells police warrant for sexual assault.
Other indictments
Christopher Lee Cooper, also indicted under the name Chris Hernandez, was indicted for possessing, with intent to deliver, between 1 grams and 4 grams of cocaine. The indictment also contained a felony enhancement because Cooper was convicted of felony robbery in Palo Pinto County in 2000.
Cooper was reportedly arrested on Sept. 18 by the Mineral Wells police after an officer reportedly found cocaine in his vehicle during a traffic stop in the 2500 block of N.E. 2nd Avenue.
Raymond Wayne Kite was indicted for unauthorized use of a vehicle. Kite was arrested in June after a police officer spotted a 2004 Chevrolet pickup reported stolen out of Farmers Branch sitting in the driveway of a residence in the 1000 block of N.W. 1st Avenue. Police waited for the driver to return to the truck and pulled over Kite and arrested him in the 500 block of N.W. 12th Street later that day.
Baxter Lee Boudreau was indicted for evading arrest or detention with a vehicle, after he allegedly did not stop when a Mineral Wells police officer attempted to pull him over in September. He was arrested for DWI and evading arrest after police reportedly tried to stop him near the intersection of South Oak Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Street and pursued him through the southwest section of town until he arrived home in the 1100 block of S.W. 6th Avenue.
• Samantha Renee Avartt was indicted for possession of marijuana, more than 4 ounces, less than 5 pounds, in a drug free zone.
• James Shurfield King III was indicted for driving while intoxicated, third or more offense.
• Mark Shannon Magee was indicted for possession of a controlled substance, less than 1 gram.
• Michael Paul Mayo was indicted for unauthorized use of a vehicle.
• Anthony Patrick William Moore was indicted for burglary of a building.
• Gary Ross Nickols was indicted for possession of a controlled substance, more than 1 gram, less than 4 grams.
• Donna Marie Ogara was indicted for manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance, more 1 gram, less than 4 grams.
• Jimmie Michelle Wells was indicted for possession of a controlled substance, less than 1 gram.
• Jimmy Dean Schulz Jr. was indicted for driving while intoxicated, third or more offense.
