MILLSAP – With Christmas fast approaching, the elementary students recently presented an enthusiastic program that fully celebrated the season.
With everyone – including faculty – dressed in pajamas, the audience was treated to a variety of Christmas favorites, along with great narrations. It was obvious that many dedicated hours of preparation and practice from students and teachers went into a very enjoyable performance.
To commemorate a sad event in our area’s long-ago history a statue was recently dedicated to the memory of the Long family, who perished in a massacre. This emblem is located on Pat Newberry’s property, and was made possible through the work of Dorothy Doss and area boy scouts. It is a solemn reminder of a very different and dangerous way of life.
At city hall the council’s December meeting is cancelled, and over at the post office the postmaster informed me that there is no longer direct local mail. If you mail something in Millsap to someone who has a Millsap address, the item now has to go all the way to Fort Worth before it goes to the local address. We may need to allow extra time for local mailings from now on.
Dora Atteberry recently celebrated a birthday. She said it was a wonderful day with visits and phones calls filled with good wishes. May she have many more happy birthdays!
Happy birthday to Nathan Poynor, a great boy, who will turn 12 on Monday.
We send speedy recovery wishes to Marsha McDonald, of Cool, who recently had knee surgery. This lady keeps an extremely busy schedule, with many hours dedicated to others, so may she heal quickly.
As we celebrate the birth of Christ on Friday, may we remember that this was only the beginning of a miracle. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life - John 3:16.
May you and yours have a blessed Christmas.
