BOYD – The Millsap High School Lady Bulldogs went into Tuesday's game against the Botd Lady 'Jackets looking to get off to a quick start in the District 9-2A race.

Mission accomplished.

Libby Meeker and Ashton Waters both scored in double figures and helped carry Millsap to a 58-35 win over Boyd.

Meeker, who tormented the BHS defense from the perimeter, finished the game with a team-high 22 points. She knocked down five of her seven attempts from behind the three-point arc.

What Meeker didn't push home from the outside, Waters, who was named to the all-tournament squad, and Tiffany Brown did. Waters tallied 19 points in the contest, while Brown pushed in eight.

Meeker, Waters and Brown also dominated the boards. All three netted six rebounds.

Millsap had went into their district opener coming off a disappointing effort at the Bridgeport tournament. The Lady Bulldogs went 1-3 in the event, which was held Dec. 10-12.

Millsap, despite 22 points from Meeker and 11 more from Waters, opened the tournament with a tough 46-43 loss to Muenster. The team dropped a 52-34 decision the following day to Bridgeport.

Ashleigh Edwards, Waters and Meeker helped Millsap break into the win column in the third round. All three scored into double figures in a 44-39 win over Lovejoy.

Millsap dropped its finale, 49-41, to Lockney.
