MILLSAP – Millsap was a merry place to be the evening of Dec. 5 as a great Christmas parade rolled through our town. The floats ranged from one decorated with palm trees to another with a giant snowman. Antique vehicles and riders aback horses brought an old-time air to the event. The fire trucks were impressive, especially the one that carried Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus.

All of this ended up around the log cabins. Inside city hall everyone was treated to a supper of hot dogs with all the trimmings. A specialty of the evening was the homemade chili of Diana French. Housed in the log cabin were Santa and the Mrs. with a long line of kids giving the old elf their requests.

Down at the Community Center the ladies of the Home and Garden Club had everything beautifully decorated, with delicious refreshments and some sweet carols sung by elementary kids. All of the organizations who provided this wonderful evening for the community expressed their appreciation for all of the support to make it a success.

Recently renown author and environmentalist, Doris Mager, presented a very interesting program to the elementary students. Her main focus is birds of prey, and this 83 years young woman has biked and walked the nation and lived in an abandoned eagle’s nest for a week to raise donations for nature causes.  An interesting and inspiring personality, she gave the kids a lot to think about.

On Sunday, Dec. 13, at 2 p.m. there will be a band and choir program in the high school cafeteria. At the elementary school parties will take place on Dec. 17, and the Awards Assembly is Dec. 18. The assembly for kindergarden through second grade is 8:30 a.m., followed by grades 3-5 at 10 a.m.

Dismissal will be at 12:30 p.m, with the holiday vacation beginning.
