A man was arrested around 5 a.m. Thursday for three counts of possession of a controlled substance, less than 28 grams, one count of possession of a dangerous drug, and possession of a prohibited weapon, police said.
Cody Harrison Smith, 24, of Mineral Wells, was arrested after police were called about a suspicious person parked at a convenience store in the 3100 block of U.S. Highway 180 East.
Police said an officer began talking with Smith and asked him to get out of the car and empty his pockets.
Several types of pills, including 17 grams of Vicodin, 11 grams of Xanax and 30 grams of clonazepam, were found in the man’s pockets, police reported. Though the man said he had prescription bottles for all the pills, they were not on him, police said.
The man was also allegedly carrying a switchblade knife, according to the report.
Criminal trespass
A resident in the 300 block of N.W. 3rd Street reported a door kicked in while gone for 30 minutes, police said. Nothing was reported missing and no other damaged was found, according to police. It was reported around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
Stolen puppy
A black lab puppy with a collar and dog tag was reported stolen Wednesday around 10 a.m. from a residence on Old Millsap Highway, police reported.
The 6-month-old dog with white paws, a white chest and a white tipped tail was outside when his owner went inside for several minutes, according to the report. When the man returned outside, the dog and another man he’d seen in the area were gone, police said.
After unsuccessfully searching for the dog for an hour, the owner called to report the dog stolen, according to police. The dog was valued at $100 and reported very friendly, police said.
Trucks shot with paintballs
Two vehicles, a black GMC Sierra and a pizza delivery truck, traveling in the area of the 2000 block of S.E.19th Street were reportedly shot with paintballs around 7 p.m. Wednesday, according to police. There was no damage to either pickup, police said.
Arrest
Police reported making the following arrests:
• Justin Carl Smith, 18, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Wednesday on five traffic warrants.

PET OF THE WEEK: Catahoula mix looking for a new place to call home
“Capt. Jack” is a short hair, mixed-breed dog – mostly Catahoula leopard – with an intriguing red merle-patterned coat. This approximately 2-year-old, 55-pound male also has one blue eye and one brown eye. He will need to be fixed as part of his adoption.
