Air Evac selects Northrop National Mechanic of the Year
Air Evac Lifeteam selected base mechanic Shawn Northrop of the Mineral Wells, Texas base as the 2009 Regional Mechanic of the Year, at Air Evac Lifeteam’s National Awards banquet in West Plains, Mo. The award was presented Saturday, Oct. 3 during the Homecoming events for Air Evac Lifeteam.
The Mechanic of the Year of the Year is presented to the employee who has contributed to the performance of the assigned base/region, and to the overall mission of Air Evac Lifeteam.
“Shawn is always ready to help with what ever you ask of him — when ever he is needed. At the Regional Maintenance Office there has been only one person for over nine months and without Shawn’s help they couldn’t have made it,” explained Director of Completion Center David Granowski.
“According to his crew, he is always this way. If you need someone to help at another base or you need someone to look up something; just give him a call and he will be on the road to help out. The aircraft at his base is in better shape each time it’s inspected by regional mechanics. Shawn deserves recognition for the conscientious and detail oriented job he performs each day,” said Granowski.
“He always ensures the aircraft is safe and he puts safety above all else. He has a solid knowledge base and expertise level that surpasses all others. Anytime there is a concern or issue, he is always willing to comply, is efficient and expedites things in a timely manner. We are so lucky to have someone of this caliber working at Air Evac Lifeteam.”
Regional Maintenance Manager Mark Kassal added, “Shawn Northrop is one of the mechanics that everyone calls when they just can’t find it in the book. If you need some help in western Texas we know who will help us. If you don’t agree with Shawn he will not get upset because instead he looks for a solution. Not only is he a great mechanic but he the type of person that you like to be around.”
The Mineral Wells base was established in September 2003 in cooperation with Palo Pinto General Hospital. It became a part of the Air Evac Lifeteam system in April 2005. Northrop has been employed at the Mineral Wells base since it was established in 2003.
