A man was arrested on several charges after calling police about an alleged burglary and then reportedly attempting to run from officers, police reported.
Richard Eugene Lowe Jr., 27, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Tuesday evening for evading arrest, possession of a controlled substance, a parole warrant and city warrants for driving with expired registration and no insurance.
Police said they responded to a call in the 2200 block of S.E. 4th Avenue around 6 p.m. Tuesday where a caller reported two intruders in his house.
They were told the man was going to hide in his shed while waiting for officers, police said.
When they arrived, officers found no one in the shed and knocked on the door.
The resident, Lowe, answered the door in a blue shirt and underwear, according to police, and walked officers through the house to make sure no one was hiding.
Lowe then stepped outside and ran when an officer requested him to walk closer and answer more questions about the incident, police reported.
After arresting him for evading arrest and discovering Lowe had two city traffic warrants, officers went back inside to secure the house, police said.
While closing an open window in the bathroom, police allegedly found methamphetamine.
Lowe also had a warrant out of Austin for parole violation, according to police.
One wreck, two arrests
Police arrested two people while responding to minor wreck at a convenience store in the 3100 block of U.S. Highway 180 East just after midnight Tuesday.
The driver, Stephen Bruce Cummins, 48, of Tarrant County, was arrested on a Tarrant County warrant for possession of a controlled substance.
The passenger, Misty Ann Malone, 25, of Haltom City, was arrested for possession of marijuana, less than 2 ounces, possession of a controlled substance, less than 1 gram, and unlawful carrying of a weapon.
Though they were in the vehicle that had been struck, police said the pair acted nervous so an officer ran Cummins driver’s license number and discovered he had a warrant.
When asked if she had anything illegal on her, police said Malone told them she had a large marijuana joint in her purse.
Police said they search her bag and found marijuana, a dagger and a rock-like substance.
The K-9 unit was called and a glass pipe was found under a seat, according to police.
Because of a significant amount of what police believe to be methamphetamine residue in the pipe, Malone was also charged with possession of a controlled substance, less than 1 gram.
Police said they are sending the other substance to a laboratory for testing and may further charge Malone.
Burglary
Assorted power tools, clothes, CDs and other items, valued at over $800 were reported stolen from a shop in the 1400 block of S.W. 1st Avenue, police said. The door was pried open between 5 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Monday, according to the report.

• Audie Eugene Couch, 55, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Monday for theft, $50 to $500.
