Police said they arrested Ruben Lewis Barnett Thursday on a warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Police responded to a call around 5 p.m. Oct. 7 in the 400 block of N.E. 8th Avenue where a woman reported Barnett allegedly dragged her with her father’s pickup during an argument.
The woman had just stepped out of the truck and had her back to the door when Barnett allegedly put the pickup in reverse and dragged her about 20 feet and left with the pickup, according to the police report.
Mineral Wells EMS treated the woman at the scene but did not transport her to the hospital, police said.
The vehicle was recovered on Oct. 7 around 10 p.m. by the Parker County Sheriff’s Office in the 100 block of Bennett Road south of Mineral Wells Municipal Airport.
A deputy reported seeing a man in a hooded sweatshirt walking away from the truck but the man was gone when law enforcement circled around again.
The truck had been in an accident, two tires were blown and the vehicle was not driveable, according to the report.
Warrants were issued for his arrest for unauthorized use of a vehicle and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on Oct. 8, according to police.
They received information on his whereabouts via a crimestoppers tip, police said.
Trespass arrest
John Richard Almanza, 31, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Friday for criminal trespass. Almanza signed and was given a criminal trespass warning by officer around 2 a.m. Friday after a woman reported her ex-boyfriend, recently released from Palo Pinto County Jail for assault, was beating on her door in the 1200 block of N.W. 2nd Avenue, according to police. When police responded to a second call around 3 a.m. alleging Almanza was at the house again, they found him running in the 1100 block of N.W. 1st Avenue, according to police.
Burglaries
• A stereo and CD player was reported stolen around 9 a.m. Thursday from an unlocked white Ford Explorer in the 2300 block of S.W. 8th Avenue, police said.
• A resident in the 2800 block of North Murco Street reported a burglary of a habitation Thursday night, according to police. They returned from being out of town for two months to find blankets and CDs rearranged and disturbed as if someone else had been living in the house, the report stated. A gold necklace with diamonds was reported missing, police said. The back sliding glass door appeared to have pry marks but was not damaged, according to police.
Mineral Wells police reported making the following arrests:
• Marsha Aline Leatherman, 30, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Wednesday on a Parker County warrant for theft.
• Jose Cruz Velasquez, 23, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Wednesday on 22 traffic-related warrants and faces fines of $5,400.
• Jose L. Ramirez, 21, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Wednesday on a warrant for speeding.
• Leslie Gail Acosta-Mesa, 22, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Wednesday on warrants for changing lanes when unsafe and driving without a license.
• Robert Shane Howard, 35, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Wednesday for running a stop sign.
• Jerry Lawrence Littlepage Jr., 27, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Thursday on a warrants for driving without a license and insurance and failure to control speed.
• Marilyn M. Hanks, 68, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Thursday on four traffic-related warrants.
• Marcos Eugene Casas, 28, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Thursday for public intoxication and excessive noise.
• Donald Ray Moore, 48, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Friday on warrants for speeding and driving without a seatbelt.
