Police arrested two men for allegedly stealing a City of Mineral Wells employee’s personal vehicle Monday morning parked in the 200 block of S.W. 2nd Street.
The keys were left in the 2003 Ford pickup and the doors were unlocked, according to the report.
A witness reportedly recognized the two men and reported seeing them looking into vehicles in the area that morning.
A vehicle was reported ransacked around 9:30 a.m. behind a business in the 300 block of North Oak Avenue and another city employee reported an unlocked personal vehicle ransacked in the same area the truck was stolen that morning.
The pickup was found undamaged and pulled over in the 2600 block of S.W. 5th Street with the keys still in it and nothing missing.
Police said they found and arrested Brian Taylor Lowe, 20, of Mineral Wells, at a residence in the 500 block of S.W. 18th Street around 5 p.m.
Jesse Clay Heaslet, 19, of Mineral Wells, was also arrested Monday afternoon.
Both were charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle.
Lowe was still being held on $10,000 bond Tuesday afternoon. Heaslet posted bond Tuesday morning.
According to Index records, Lowe was arrested in July for criminal trespass for allegedly breaking into a city council member’s house.
Lowe was also arrested for burglary of a habitation and assault of a public servant in September for reportedly breaking into his landlord’s house, stealing a cellphone and punching a Palo Pinto County Sheriff’s deputy in the stomach.
Sexual assault reported to police
Mineral Wells police were called by the Weatherford Regional Medical Center around 9:30 p.m. Friday after a 22-year-old woman was allegedly sexually assaulted at a motel in Mineral Wells, according to the report. The woman was reportedly transferred to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, police said. No further details were provided.
RV burned
A 2002 Allegro RV burned and two other vehicles and a three-sided barn were damaged in a fire Sunday around noon in Palo Pinto, according to Mineral Wells Volunteer Fire Department Chief Steve Perdue.
A resident in the 1100 block of U.S. Highway 180 in Palo Pinto was watching the Dallas Cowboys football game when she saw her horse run by and looked outside to see her recreational vehicle on fire.
Perdue said the fire possibly began as an electrical short in the refrigerator. The home had not been used in about three years but the value was considerable, according to Perdue. A pickup and bulldozer sustained minor damage, as well.
Burglaries
• A small Yamaha motorcycle was reported taken from a shop building in the 2700 block of U.S. Highway 281 North. How the thief entered is unknown, according to police. The theft was reported around 4 p.m. Friday.
• Two space heaters were reported stolen from a house in the 500 block of S.W. 1st Street between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. Sunday, according to police. One window of the house was not secured according to police.
• A welding unit, valued at $2,500, was reported taken from the back of a pickup in the 1300 block of S.E. 3rd Street, according to police. The burglary was reported around 1 p.m. Friday, police said.
• A purse containing cash, credit cards, identifying information, a ring and cellphone was reported stolen from a 1995 Nissan in the 100 block of S.W. 11th Street after midnight Monday, police said. The value of the items was estimated over $400, according to the report. No signs of forced entry were found.
• A purse containing a call phone and other items was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the 800 block of U.S. Highway 180 East Sunday evening, according to police. There were no signs of forced entry, police said.
Man damages ambulance
A man who needed medical attention was given a ride to the hospital by EMS around 3 a.m. Sunday but reportedly refused admission, walked out of the hospital and began punching the ambulance on the driver’s side, according to police. The man hit the driver’s side window with a closed fist but did not break the window and left a dent in the hood of the vehicle. He was gone when police arrived.
About 30 minutes later, the police received a call from a driver in the 2300 block of U.S. Highway 180 West who reportedly saw a man with no shirt on approach and hit his vehicle. Police were unable to locate the driver or the man.
No charges have been filed, according to police.
Dog impounded
An animal control officer responding to a complaint in the 1800 block of N.W. 3rd Avenue found a sick Rottweiler chained to a tree, according to police.
Its shelter was considered too small and the dog was thin, losing hair, had no food or water, would not get up or bark and vomited when fed, according to the report.
Though the owner was not home at the time, animal control officer took possession of the dog. Police said an animal cruelty report has been started.
Arrests
Mineral Wells Police reported making the following arrests:
• Tara Lynn Hines, 42, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Friday on a warrant for driving without a seatbelt.
• Thomas Wade Raspberry, 41, of Perrin, was arrested Friday for driving while intoxicated.
• Victor Randy Lazano, 20, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Saturday for public intoxication.
• Tiffany Cherie Valley, 26, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Saturday for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
• Justin Michael Lowe, 18, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Sunday for assault of a family member and on three traffic warrants.
• Jonathan Wayne Radford, 19, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Monday on warrants for driving without a seatbelt, driving without a license and driving with defective equipment.
• Henry James Berkins, 49, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Monday on a parole warrant.
• Reynaldo Inez Fernandez, 20, of Mienral Wells, was arrested Tuesday on warrants for driving without a license and insurance.

“Capt. Jack” is a short hair, mixed-breed dog – mostly Catahoula leopard – with an intriguing red merle-patterned coat. This approximately 2-year-old, 55-pound male also has one blue eye and one brown eye. He will need to be fixed as part of his adoption.
