Armed man struggles with officer during arrest


An officer who attempted to arrest a man during a traffic stop found a gun on the man after struggling to handcuff him, Mineral Wells police reported.

Teddy Lamart Kennedy, 37, of Mineral Wells, was reportedly stopped in the 300 block of S.E. 25th Avenue for speeding 51 mph in a 35 mile per hour zone on his motorcycle.

He did not have insurance and his inspection and registration were expired, according to police.

When the officer began handcuffing him, Kennedy struggled to keep his right hand free, according to police.

A 9mm pistol was found in his waistband on the right side, police said.

Kennedy also has a felony record, according to police.

Kennedy was arrested for resisting arrest, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, driving without insurance and driving with expired registration and inspection.

Burglary arrest

Tony Ray Hoskins, 17, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Tuesday on warrant for burglary of a building. Police said he was allegedly involved in a burglary that took place early morning Sept. 8 at a business in the 300 block of N.W. 3rd Avenue. According to a previous Index story, a neighbor told police he chased away two people from the building around 4 a.m. after hearing a window break. A DVD player, valued at $300, and $5 was reported stolen.

Burglary reported

A house in the 100 block of N.W. 23rd Street was reported burglarized around 3 p.m. Tuesday, according to police. The garage door handle was broken off and a window was broken, police said. Previous tenants belongs had been moved out and nothing else was reported stolen, according to the report.

Arrests

Mineral Wells police reported making the following arrests:

• Rafael Sanchez, 27, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Tuesday for running a stop sign and driving without a license.

• Krystle Marie Sprinkle, 19, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Wednesday on 10 traffic warrants.

• Joshua A. Henderson, 18, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Thursday on eight traffic warrants and for speeding, driving with an expired inspection and possession of marijuana, less than 2 ounces.

• Daniel Wayne Bailey, 51, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Thursday on a warrant for unsightly property.

• Trish Marie Perez, 37, of Mineral Wells was arrested Thursday on warrant for speeding.
