Nathan Lee Gonzales, 31, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Monday on a warrant for burglary of a building. He is accused of breaking into an office at a business in the 100 block of S.E. 1st Street on Sept. 23 while the business was operating.
Two people entered the business around 10:30 a.m. and a woman pretended to shop but never purchased anything while Gonzales allegedly jimmied the lock of the manager’s office, police said.
A purse was taken before the burglary was noticed about 2 p.m. but officers were able to identify the man on a surveillance tape, according to police.
Man wrecks car in ditch, is arrested
A man reportedly drove his white Jeep Cherokee into the ditch in the 1300 block of Municipal Highway 379 at the intersection of Old Millsap Highway around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to police.
The driver, Howell Jay Newsom, 34, of of Mineral Wells, refused treatment from Mineral Wells EMS and was arrested by police for driving with a suspended license. He also had warrants for failure to control speed and driving without insurance.
Assault leads to man's arrest
Michael Lee Taylor, 23, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Tuesday for assault causing bodily injury.
Officers called to a domestic disturbance in the 2000 block of Farm-to-Market Road 1195 found a woman with red marks around the neck and a bump on the head, police reported.
Burglaries
• A Buick parked in the 700 block of Hood Road was broken into Tuesday between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m., according to a police report. The front passenger side window was broken out and a GPS system valued at $200 and a radio valued at $32 was reported stolen from the vehicle.
• The front passenger window of a 2008 Ford Escape parked in the 2400 block of East Hubbard Street was smashed by a piece of concrete and two cellphones valued at $200 were stolen, according to police. The burglary happened between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesday.
• A hard drive valued at $80 was reported stolen from a house in the 200 block of Country Club Parkway between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to police. The thief is believed to have entered the home through an unlocked rear window, police said. Two fishing poles, valued at $30, were also found broken.
Arrests
Mineral Wells police reported making the following arrests:
• Reid Menefee, 17, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Monday for theft, less than $50, for allegedly shoplifting at Wal-Mart. He also had a warrant for disorderly conduct.
• David Lee Woodring, 34, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Tuesday on 11 traffic warrants.
• Anne Valentin Kelly, 51, of Bullard, was arrested Tuesday for driving while intoxicated, third offense.
• Adrian Joshua Menchaca, 17, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Tuesday on 16 warrants for traffic, curfew, minor in possession and consumption of alcohol, possession of tobacco and theft offenses.
• Eddy Mac Brown, 52, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Wednesday on a parole warrant.
• Teresa Lynn Pilkington, 46, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Wednesday for driving with an expired license plate, no insurance and failure to display driver’s license.
