A man was arrested just after midnight Wednesday at a residence in the 2500 block of S.E. 6th Street after he reportedly pulled a kitchen knife over 7 inches long during an argument, according to police.
He reportedly approached several people with the knife and threatened them but no one was injured, police said.
Carl Dan Fairley, 25, of Mineral Wells, was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and transported to Palo Pinto County jail.
Brothers arrested minutes apart
Two brothers were arrested within an hour of each across town Tuesday afternoon when officers responded to two separate calls, police reported.
Michael Shane Mayfield, 28, of Azle, was arrested around noon at a business in the 100 block of S.E. 17th Avenue after Mayfield and an employee got into an argument and police were called. Michael Mayfield was arrested on a warrant out of Austin for parole violation.
Ronnie Kevin Mayfield, 21, of Mineral Wells, was arrested about 30 minutes later at the pardons and parole office on Cross Post Road on a parole violation warrant and on a Palo Pinto County warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Beer heist thwarted
An off-duty Parker County sheriff’s deputy stopped a teen on a beer run in his tracks when the peace officer realized what was happening.
Police said they found the deputy detaining the suspect when they arrived at the convenience store in the 1500 block of U.S. Highway 180 West after receiving a call about a theft.
Adrian Joshua Menchaca, 17, of Mineral Wells, was charged with theft, under $50, for reportedly stealing a 24-pack of beer.
However, about an hour later, four men in a maroon car got away with two cases of beer from the same location, police said.
Shoplifters arrested
Four women accused of shoplifting together at Wal-Mart were arrested or given citations Tuesday afternoon.
Lannette Marie Wright, 20, of Graford, was arrested Tuesday for theft, more than $50, less than $500.
Samantha Danielle Vaughan, 17, of Mineral Wells, was arrested on the same charge, as well as on warrants for theft and curfew violation. Both were transported to the county jail.
Two others received citations for theft, under $50.
Teen arrested for marijuana
A 13-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday morning by the school resource officer for possession of marijuana, police reported.
Burglaries
• Over $500 worth of equipment, including a shop vacuum, leaf blower and air compressor were reported stolen from an unlocked garage in the 300 block of S.W. 5th Avenue between midnight and 7 a.m. Monday, police said.
• A fence around a building in the 100 block of S.W. Martin Luther King Jr. Street was cut and the band around a pallet of metal parts was cut over the weekend, police said. However nothing was reported stolen.
• A man who broke into a building in the 4000 block of Sartain Road Thursday evening reportedly fled when he was caught by a resident, according to the Palo Pinto County sheriff’s office.
Arrest
Mineral Wells police also reported making the following arrest:
• Tyler Jamison Ashley, 24, of Weatherford, was arrested Tuesday for no insurance.
