Moving barriers on new ‘Williamson’ Hwy.

From staff reports

Parker County Judge Mark Riley and Texas Department of Transportation Area Engineer John Cordary posed at a barrier just before its removal Wednesday afternoon, opening traffic on a new segment of the Ric Williamson Memorial Highway from U.S. Highway 180 north to Farm-to-Market Road 920.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony opened the northwestern portion of the loop from U.S. 180 to FM Road 51. Riley said he anticipates a southern segment of the loop, from U.S. 180 south to Ranger Highway, will be open within another 60 days.

He hopes the loop to Interstate 20 will be completed by summer of 2014.

On Feb. 26, Riley will be the featured guest speaker at the Mineral Wells Area Chamber of Commerce “Power of Business Luncheon,” which begins at 11:30 a.m. at Holiday Hills Country Club. He and his team will discuss the impact of the new highway on area residents and economic activity. Luncheon tickets are $25 and available in advance from the MWACC.
