According to a recent press release, Airgas USA LLC acquired the assets of two major welding suppliers, including one with a Mineral Wells location.
Airgas is one of America's leading industrial, medical, and specialty gas suppliers, according to the release, and acquired Metroplex Service Welding Supply Inc. and Excel Welding and Industrial Supplies Inc. to complement its existing line of products.
Mineral Wells is home to one of five Metroplex locations in North Texas.
Airgas Senior Vice President Les Graff said the business move "will help to further increase our density and strengthen our competitive position in each of these geographies. We're very pleased to have these new employees and loyal customers join the Airgas family."
The press release explained 47 Metroplex employees are now part of Airgas' Southwest region while 10 associates from Philadelphia-based Excel have joined the company's East region.
Metroplex executives contacted by the Index did not comment on the acquisition.
