Meat smoker blamed for house fire

By CHRIS AGEE | cagee@mineralwellsindex.com

Mineral Wells firefighters responded to the report of a residential fire in the 350 block of Lasater Lane late Tuesday night.

According to MWFD reports, residents were able to extinguish the blaze before crews arrived, though the front and right side of the home were damaged.

Investigators determined the fire started when a meat smoker ignited wood along the ground, leading back to the home.

Reports indicate residents smelled smoke after noticing their satellite dish stopped operating and managed to douse the fire before it caused further damage to the property.

When crews arrived, they monitored the situation and surveyed the damage with a thermal camera before confirming the blaze was completely extinguished.
