Chubby’s hosts belated grand opening event

By CHRIS AGEE | cagee@mineralwellsindex.com

Though it opened nearly nine months ago, the owner of Chubby’s BBQ and Grill said she spent much of that time creating a welcoming environment and appetizing menu.

After much hard work, though, Deborah Richards was ready to celebrate Thursday with an official grand opening.

Representatives from the Mineral Wells Chamber of Commerce, loyal Chubby’s patrons and employees joined in welcoming the restaurant, located at 3400 U.S. Highway 281 South, to the community.

Prior to a ribbon-cutting ceremony at noon, Richards spoke with the Index about the restaurant.

Though barbecue is a specialty, prepared in a large pit cooker and served fresh each day, she said there are many menu items locals cannot find in other Mineral Wells eateries.
